Here's how you can update your wireless (WiFi) driver on your PC running Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10:
- Determine the wireless driver that you're running on your PC, along with the date and version. Open the command prompt (Win key + R, type 'cmd') and enter the following command:

On the left panel, go to the ‘Network TCP/IP’ section, open the ‘Network Adapters Subsection, and click on your wireless/WLAN device (it will probably contain the name ‘Wireless’ or ‘WLAN’ in it) Using your device name and manufacturer information, go online and search for your drivers, download them and install them. A minidriver or a miniport driver acts as half of a driver pair. Driver pairs like (miniport, port) can make driver development easier. In a driver pair, one driver handles general tasks that are common to a whole collection of devices, while the other driver handles tasks that are specific to an individual device. Find Devices and Printers in the Control Panel and open it. Click Add a Printer (on the top). A window will come up that is searching for printers on the network. Click Stop, then click The printer I want isn't listed. Click Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings. Click Create a new port. Select Local Port for. On the device: 1. Ensure the device doesn’t have a static IP address. Make sure the device receives a very good signal from Deco. Power cycle your wireless device and Deco. Update the driver of the wireless adapter on this device. If the issue still exists, it’s suggested to contact the device’s tech support to get help.
You should get a screen like the one below:
- If the driver is more than one year old, we suggest you update it. Copy the driver name from the command prompt screen and do a Google search.
- Download the latest available driver for your wireless (WiFi) adapter from the manufacturer's website. In the example above, go to the Download Center for Intel and choose the driver for the Windows version you are running. If you're unsure of what version you're running, just check the 'System type' information in the System properties screen (Win key + Break). (We suggest downloading the file to your Desktop).
- Install the driver by running the installer. If the driver doesn't have an installer:
- Open the Device Manager (You can do this by pressing the Windows but and typing it out)
- Right click on your wireless adapter and choose Update Driver Software.
- Choose the option to Browse and locate the drivers you downloaded. Windows will then install the drivers.
- Open the Device Manager (You can do this by pressing the Windows but and typing it out)
- Reboot your PC after installing the updated drivers.
